Are there any harsh chemicals in bamboo lyocell?
Ettitude products are made from certified organic bamboo that is grown and produced without any harmful chemicals, artificial additives, growth hormones or GMO’s. They are manufactured under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, which is an international testing and certification system for textiles, focusing primarily on limiting the use of harmful chemicals in the textile industry. Ettitude fabrics are also dyed with non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes.
Are they made ethically?
The bamboo used is from FSC-certified forests and is USDA Certified Organic. Ettitude products are certified by Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP). WRAP is a globally recognised, independent 3rd party certifying body whose mission is to promote ethical, humane and lawful conditions and practices in apparel, footwear, and sewn products manufacturing facilities. Companies accepted into the WRAP organisation go through an extensive application process in which manufacturing facilities, working environments, and workers’ rights are inspected and approved by the WRAP association. WRAP certifications are awarded based upon both internationally and nationally accepted humane workplace standards, local laws, and ethical manufacturing regulations.
Doesn’t bamboo use lots of water?
The fibre yield per acre from bamboo is up to 10 times higher than cotton and requires less than 1/10 of the water to grow. It is fabricated with high eco-standards, using a closed-loop system that recycles and reuses water to minimise waste.
